I am sorry to disappoint you, but if you came for a beautiful very descriptive blog about my holiday so far, then you're on the wrong blog. (But don't worry I will do a holiday post at the end of my holiday.) Today I am going to write about a very special friend I made the other day. His name is Carl.
Sorry to disappoint you agin, but if you think carl is a hot tall man with a 6-pack and beach blond wavy hair that I had a summer fling with, then you are also on the wrong blog. And also, why would you even think that? Why on earth would i be that lucky? (*mutters under breath* Idiots) Now, this is going to sound weird, but Carl is an.......ant. Now don't judge! He is a very cool ant, so its ok. I decided to write this to dedicate it to him, since I had to pat with him in Florence.
We first met by me seeing him crawling up the leg of the table we were on in the restaurant. Thats how got his name. I thought of crawl, and so it sounded like Carl. (I was going to call him Smurf because i though of sfant, which stands for small friendly ant, but it was too hard to pronounce so i thought of Smurf. But yeah, that didn't stick.) I was eating my spaghetti carbonara (which was really good by the way), and when saw him I was about to brush him off (*gasp*), but I realised he seemed really friendly. So i stuck my finger out and he crawled straight on. I then tried to put him on my spaghetti, as I had had enough. But he was not having ANY of it. He was like "Ugh s'cuse me! I ain't eating any of that. Nu-uh." So i proceeded to eat a little more spaghetti with one hand, and Carl crawling about on the other.
Once my dinner had been taken away, I played with Carl. He went from one hand to the other, and even on my Fitbit. Then the piano started playing 'Can't help falling in love with you' by Elvis Presley. So I sung it to Carl. Great song by the way Elvis, good job.
Then we had pudding. I had one of those chocolate ball things that melt when you pour sauce on it. On the side they had rock sugar, and I put some on my hand and Carl ate it. I think he really enjoyed it. (Fat ant.)
Then it came to the end of dinner. By this time my parents had found out about Carl. (My dad threatened to kill him, meanie.) So my parents wouldn't let me taken him upstairs (*sniff*). So, with a heavy heart, I wished Carl a good and safe life, and gently put him in the nearest plant. I'm sure it will be a nice new home for him.
I'm really sorry I was going to put other images on but the wifi at my hotel is really bad, and I have already taken long enough to do this blog. I will hopefully upload them later.
p.s This blog was mainly for entertainment. Carl does exist but I don't actually have a crush on him or really really really miss him. XD
Have you ever heard of that show, My strange addiction? I've never watched it (apart from a clip of one about a girl eating nail polish), but I've heard of it. Well I reckon I have my own strange addiction, maybe not so much strange, more crazy. Recently I have been absolutely obsessed with Hamilton. The musical that is, I don't have a crush on the founding father of America who died 213 years ago.
I am one of those poor unfortunate beings that has not seen Hamilton, just obsessed over the songs(and bought them duh), has a 300 page book about it, and watched a few rare (probably copyrighted) youtube clips. Oh, and yes, I do know pretty much all the lyrics (even Lafayette's Guns and Ships rap).
I am guessing most of you are thinking, what the heck is Hamilton? I've heard of George Washington but thats it...
Hamilton is a musical written by Lin-Manuel Miranda. It's not just a musical though, it's mostly singing, and the singing isn't just singing, it's a combination of hip hop and rap style. So if in the 19th century it was a civil conversation, now it is things like 'uhh do whatever you want IM SUPER DEAD!!!! (buuurnnn)' (sorry 'bout that, us Hammy fans can get quite excited). But not only is Hamilton AWESOME, it can also teach you about the life of Hamilton, as well as his friends and family. (Wait education being fun whaaaat.)
Have you heard of Hamilton before? Or have you just checked it out? What do you think? Let me know in the comments!
Oops. May have not written in a while! But that's probably because I've been really busy. If you didn't already know, I go to boarding school in Britain. And if you didn't already know, it's almost summer! I've only got less than 2 days left! But, the worst thing is, because I go to boarding school I have an awful amount of packing to do. We move dorms every term, but end of year is the most chaotic because we have to take everything home. EVERYTHING. From school books to pillow mist, it all has to go. So, I know there should be no excuses, but if you were me, I don't think you would have much time either.
I want to thank my friends for making me have an amazing year, we have had so much fun. From sliding on our bums when ice skating, sticking wanted posters all around school, peeling of those cheap but oh so satisfying face masks, writing things in the sky with sparklers (nothing rude obviously), getting stuck in suitcases, throwing ourselves down the bowling alley, eating chocolate eyeshadow, naming ourselves Sally at Starbucks, getting chased by Gypsies (this is a story for another time), jumping into the non-heated outdoor pool, jumping of Hadrians wall, and a fun end of year inner at a restaurant with actual humans (oh my god so scary). These are just a few but we have had so much fun. Can't wait for next year!
Obviously as you can see, I've blocked out peoples faces, except mine. This is the internet, so I will respect them.
But anyway, today is my first day of summer! Time to cherish those two days of good British weather, lather myself up with suncream despite it being 10 degrees, and have FUN! Also, I will be posting a bit more now hopefully, since no school, whoop! What are you guys doing for summer? Going somewhere nice or staying in bed watching every possible thing on Netflix with some Doritos? Let me know!
Recently I've been ill and been sitting in my bed watching youtube 12 hours a day. Since I have just recovered I thought it would be appropriate to do a blog. Here's a list:
Since I was a little kid, lucozade was a must have. It's a nessecity for me because it gives me so much more energy. (Not that I particularly need it considering I'm laying in bed doing absolutely nothing.)
2) Chamomile Tea
Again, another must have drink for me. Not really for energy, but it makes me feel so warm and soothed from whatever illness I have. Oh, and I'm British, so I must have some sort of tea. Obviously.
3) A lot of tissues
When I say a lot, I mean a LOT. No matter what illness I have, I will always have a blocked/runny nose to come with it, making it even worse.
4) Crackers/Dry food
I don't really know if most people do the same, but when I'm ill and don't feel like eating, dry food is a must for me. Never really known why, I just have. Maybe because its easy to eat?? No idea.
5) Hot water bottle
I think this is an obvious one for me. To put on your stomach or just in your bed, it is such a soothing thing to have. Ahhhhhh I love that feeling.
6) Big Jumper
Wearing a big jumper when you're ill is so comforting to cuddle into when you're throat is one fire and your nose is doing an impression or Rudolph. Mmm so comfy.
At least 1000 litres (slight exaggeration). But no matter how much you drink, when you have a sore throat, NOTHING helps.
8) Fluffy Socks
Even when I'm not ill, my feet are in Antartica but my body will feel like it's in Dubai. So fluffy socks in bed, SO COSYYY.
Well how could you watch youtube and netflix without it??
Who wouldn't love snuggling up to an old teddy that has that smell that you love but everyone else hates?? So comforting in times of need.
Those are somethings I do/have when I'm ill. Do you have any of these? And what else do you do when you're ill?
First blog post! Here we go!
So I thought I would do a starting post, just to introduce myself a bit more (even though I have the 'about page').
Sooo... My name is Lily and yes, I am only 13 years old. Maybe too young to start a blog, I don't know. But I wanted to start one to share my love of writing with you. I have not started this blog in the hopes of it making me famous, that's not my idea at all. I don't actually mind if no one reads this, I'll keep writing anyway! At least I read them. But you often see people on youtube doing it. Making videos that feel awfully similar to famous youtubers. Don't get me wrong, I get it. I would love to become famous from youtube! But so many (mainly young) girls do it now that none of it is original, and everyone is doing morning routines and getting 20 views. Which is a shame, because when they see this their heart probably breaks in two. But then again, some of them are lucky because the great people of the world see one little *something* in them which makes there channel grow. So my point is, I'm not looking for fame. That's really how the name of this website came around. Little Hideaway? Yep, I think it sounded like a cosy name, and basically explains what the idea for this blog is about. But now you want to know a bit about me.
Yes, that is a picture of me blowing into some dry ice that came with my dessert which had a mountain of candy floss on top and made me feel incredibly sick after and I swear had a hint of Jack Daniels whiskey in it. What?! It's the only (slightly) artsy looking photo I have of me!
Anyway, I am from a little village in Yorkshire where everyone knows everyone. I have lived there for quite a long time, but have gone too and fro from living there because I have moved to different countries before. When i was 5 me and my parents moved to a town near Geneva called Vevey, in Switzerland for 2 years. I made loads of friends there, which I sadly don't keep in touch with anymore, but when I occasionally go back there on a skiing holiday, I sometimes see them. So, then we moved back to England, and after 5 years at a school which I hated due to bullying (awwwww I hear you say) we moved to a little town just on the outskirts of Paris, where I still am to this day. I have lived there for almost 2 years, but I know my way around it now and go in to Paris quite a lot. I still pinch myself because I know how incredibly lucky I am to live in such a beautiful location. Oh and one thing, no, I do not speak fluent french, but I'm working on it! Also though, I don't actually go to school there. I go to a boarding school in Yorkshire which I LOVE. As much as you can love a school anyway. Oh, and yes, it is a typical British girls boarding school where we play Lacrosse and learn Latin. Salve. (I'll leave you to work out what that means!) I know you probably wonder why i would want to leave Paris and stay in dreary old England, but it is so lovely and I have made many friends since starting this school year. So anyway, enough about me, I ramble too much. Tell me about you! Where do you live? Or if there's anything else you want to know about me? And don't forget to link your website if you have one!
This Page is what I will mainly post on. Here I will write about my daily life, kind of like a diary online!
